There is a lot of flakiness in Motel7’s work, a South African artist who got involved in the Cape Town graffiti scene at a young age and still loves working with (crazy) letters. But she has since also made the move into painting, all the while staying true to her street art with wonderful, female characters that pack remarkably red noses. For The Crystal Ship, she not only bridged the gap between her work on wall and canvas, she also delved into the work of James Ensor, who once said that people are like cream puffs: rotten inside.
