A feeling that humankind is in danger of losing its connection to nature prompted Mateus Bailon to decorate his city with paintings of colourful flowers, fishes, birds and mammals. He draws his inspiration from Japanese art, comic books, folklore and the work of other street artists. His legacy to Ostend includes a number of beautifully detailed animals: two wildebeest and – for that typical Ostend touch – a seagull.
