As a child, Crystal Wagner drew plenty of imaginary birds, and nature immediately remained an important element in her later art. Her paper and textile installations fuse different colours, figures and textures and take over the space completely because of that imposing form. The young American works everything out by hand.
During The Crystal Ship, she took over the Festival and Cultural Palace in spectacular fashion with a gigantic textile construction. Incidentally, she collaborated with Refu Interim, an organisation that provides work for refugees.
